A tornado watch has been issued from much of north Georgia until 2 am. The storms moving in from the west have a history of confirmed tornadoes, large hail, and damaging wind. I'll have updates through the evening on Channel 2 and immediately if a tornado warning is issued.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for Floyd and Chattooga counties this evening till 12 AM. I'm currently watching a line of storms in AL/TN that will be heading towards NW GA over the next 2 hours. Main threat will be for damaging wind gusts. More storms possible

SEVERE T-STORM WATCH has been issued for all of N. GA till 9 PM tonight. A fast moving line of storms currently in AL will be moving into W. Ga ~ 4 PM, metro ~ 5-7 PM & E. GA ~7-9 PM. Damaging winds and large hail the main threats but can not rule out the possibility of a spin-up

Flash Flood Waring for Atlanta, and Central Fulton County where 1-3 inches of rain has fallen, and an additional 1-2 inches is possible. Watch for rising streams and creeks, and flooded roads.

UPDATE: the earthquake has been updated to magnitude 7.3. A Tsunami Warning is now in effect for SOUTH ALASKA AND THE ALASKA PENINSULA, Pacific coasts from Kennedy Entrance, Alaska to Unimak Pass, Alaska. Information is preliminary. Latest at tsunami.gov

A flood watch has been issued for much of north Georgia until 8PM Monday. Many areas have already received 1-3” of rain. Flash flood warning- Newton, Rockdale & Walton counties til 2:15PM today. Stay safe and do NOT cross any roads covered in water. Updates on Ch. 2 at 9AM.
