Spectre of MP's expenses gravy train rears its head as it did after #2011Riots Juxtaposition of wealthy MP's on good salaries with generous expenses/perks who pour doubt + scorn on life experiences, struggles + health of the poor is noticed. We all see you. #AusterityLabour

So upsetting to see Labour continue to divide 'working people' (worthy of help) from people who can't work (worthy of demonising). Not very progressive, Rachel. The Victorians would recognise the language here

The description of care workers as low skilled is hugely offensive. Not all skills can be taught. The ability to care for vulnerable people with compassion and in a way that protects their dignity is one that should be prized and rewarded to a much greater extent than it is.

The Prime Minister imitating Enoch Powell’s ‘Rivers of Blood’ speech is sickening. That speech fuelled decades of racism and division. Echoing it today is a disgrace. It adds to anti-migrant rhetoric that puts lives at risk. Shame on you, Keir Starmer.

Over 180,000 deaths. According to expert Professor Anthony Costello, director of the Institute for Global Health, that is how many lives could have been saved with a fully functioning Test, Trace, and Isolate system. We fight for justice, for them. #CovidInquiry

Dominic Minghella The first drama I made with Michael Winterbottom was called Island of Strangers. It was a schools programme and the lesson was ... there's no such thing as strangers

Appearing as a witness at the UK Covid-19 Inquiry today, CBFFJ member Prof Naomi Fulop urged the Chair to call Pat McFadden to give evidence in person about the progress the government has made responding to Module 1 Recommendations. We hope the Inquiry will listen and act.

My father was an immigrant. He became an English teacher and then someone who trained students to become teachers. He lived the whole of his life on this 'island'. Was he part of an 'island of strangers'?

We said for years there’s no point this version of Labour winning as nothing will change. And people paid a lot of money to talk about politics called that “puritan” saying the most important thing was getting the Tories out. Well here we are with Eunuch Powell as Prime Minister

The government was clapping for NHS workers and then sending them out to do their jobs without basic PPE or testing. This morning, UK Covid-19 Inquiry heard from Hazel Gray, who lost both her parents after they caught Covid from hard-working carers who were left unprotected.
