Carla Sevin, MD I agree! In doing ICU long-term outcomes research, my practice has been profoundly impacted I am humbled by challenges of prognisticating long-term outcomes of individual patients (eg, those who have surprisingly good outcomes despite clinicians’ negative predictions in ICU)

So, remember C3,4,5 keeps you alive?! Yes, today’s Tweetorial from Ashley Miller, Marcus Peck and myself is all about the diaphragm! It’s a pretty vital muscle, and a muscle often forgotten. It’s no wonder why, when it’s weak, your patients won’t liberate from the ventilator!

Pt in the MICU in shock. BP dropping. I squeezed his hand, “Open your eyes, stay w/me.” He weakly fluttered his eyes open. “What’s your wife’s name, how long have you been married?” He smiled, “I see what you’re doing.” MAP rose 10 points. Wives, the fifth pressor.

We could examine cases but might be affected by testing (CA does more!) So lets focus on deaths per capita Here are daily deaths in CA, FL They track closely from April through mid-July Then, FL took off while CA rose slowly Now, per capita, FL has 6 times daily deaths of CA

Another way to look at it is to examine cumulative deaths (per capita) To answer: what proportion of people died after vaccines were widely available? So here is the shocker: Nearly 3 in 10 Floridians who has died of COVID19 -- died after April 1, 2021 Only 1 in 10 in CA

I spend about 6 to 8 hours a week working with covid longhaulers. Often previously 100% healthy folks who now range from annoying persistent symptoms, to complete, bed ridden debilitation. I'm not a violent person, but everytime I hear about the "99% survival rate" I see red.

7. This vaccine can be made locally all over the world, and we've now technology transferred our Texas Children's vaccine to producers in India, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Botswana. 8. Our Texas Children's Center does not plan to make money on this, it's = a gift to the world

Having to keep pts on BIPAP at 100% FiO2 and this CXR on the wards because there are no ICU beds is not optimal… #MedTwitter #Omicron

Outside ED attending transferring a COVID patient to our MICU: "He doesn't believe in COVID, but he'd like to be treated for it anyway." This may be the best example I could give to illustrate why healthcare providers are burning out.

Reason for the recent social media suspensions: it’s not “wokeness”200,000 unvaccinated Americans needlessly loss their lives since June 1, 2021. They died from vaccine defiance/refusal due to disinformation from far right members of US Congress and media journals.plos.org/plosbiology/ar…

ELSO asaiojournal drop the native lungs completely, create near total ECMO dependence for oxygenation, give lots of fluids/sedation/NMBA to sustain high ECMO blood flows - this paradigm of VV ECMO application is increasingly under scrutiny

My covid course was just 2 days of sinus pressure. My trauma surgery colleague is going on his 3rd week vented in the ICU with intermittent proning and a tracheostomy. We're the same age, both with no significant medical history. Our only difference is our vaccination status.
