A multi-sensory approach to fluency- cutting sentences into phrases and using repeated reading to increase expression, rate, and phrasing.

Sometimes an abstract concept like identifying syllables needs just the tiniest bit of support to make it accessible. We had approximately 20% accuracy before the visual supports and 90% accuracy after.

We are using multi-sensory strategies in 4th grade to practice phrasing and fluency.

A great big thank you to my colleague Jamie McGhee who spoke to my Assessment & Programming class last night about early intervention, a critical and valuable program in our education system.

There will be no high stakes testing this year, and yet all over America educators have continued to teach and inspire their students online. I hope the powers that be realize we do what we do because we love children and not because a test is held over our heads.
