We are happy to report that the Layton City Fire Department Sound the Alarm was a success. !00 homes safer, 148 smoke alarms installed, and 373 people educated on fire safety. Thank you Sizzling Platter for lunch! The pizza was amazing.

Thanks for the opportunity! Educating children and adults is the first step. We have to let them know what to look for, what to avoid, and that help is always available. We also have to be vigilant as a community, and communicate with each other in forums such as this #CAPM2023

Each year there are approx 2,400 home fires involving people with disabilities. To ensure they can escape a home fire quickly, make sure they have glasses, hearing aids, canes, or their wheelchair close to their bed at night. #FireSafetyTip #BeSafe #PlanAroundYourDisabilities

Fire is FAST! There is little time! In less than 30 seconds a small flame can get completely out of control and turn into a major fire. It only takes minutes for thick black smoke to fill a house. In minutes, a house can be engulfed in flames. #FireSafetyTips #FirePrevention

Fire is DEADLY! Smoke & toxic gases kill more people than flames. Fire uses up the oxygen you need & produces smoke & poisonous gases that kill. Breathing even small amounts of smoke & toxic gases can make you drowsy, disoriented & short of breath. #FireSafetyTips #FirePrevention

Smoke Alarms Save Lives. Most fire deaths happen in homes with no working smoke alarms. Make sure your home has working smoke alarms. #SmokeAlarmsSaveLives #FireSafetyTips #FirePrevention

Close Before You Doze. A closed door can slow the spread of fire, reduce toxic smoke levels, improve oxygen levels and decrease temperatures dramatically – and that could make a life-saving difference in your home. #FireSafetyTips #FirePrevention #CloseBeforeYouDoze

Watch what you are cooking. Fires start when the heat is too high. If you see any smoke or the grease starts to boil, turn the burner off. #CookSafely #StandByYourPan #FireSafetyTips #FirePrevention youtu.be/hcZ4dEDPgLg
