If you liked my thread on the CPS guidance on prosecution of asylum seekers earlier, read this one too. Chai adds a lot of really important detail esp about what is coming next in the Bill that enables Patel to carry on criminalising asylum seekers.

Health and care bill passes second reading - 356 to 219 - but the fight against it is growing. Please join us in campaigning to #ScrapNHSBill which entrenches privatisation & does nothing to address the social care crisis

Sometimes old ideas have to die before new ones can be born. After more than 20 years of hoarding, I've burned my BA, MSc and PhD notes to ashes. With thanks - and fond memories - to University of Oxford (1989-92) University of London (1994-96) and University of Essex (1997-2003)

Please don’t scroll past this tweet. Read the headline, then the article, (& the research if you have time) and think about what this means for how you’re living your life. ‘Three Americans create enough carbon emissions to kill one person, study finds’ theguardian.com/environment/20…

Trying something new this year with my graphic syllabus. I also took Naomi de la Tour's challenge and added my teaching philosophy to each section to help with alignment of principles & practices, and committed to Jesse Stommel's "no busywork" pledge.

bell hooks has been a pivotal person for so many, including me, in their growth as people and educators (the two being inextricably intertwined, as she argued). She was a force for critique and love. She made field of possibility.

On the left is the last photo I have of my mum alive in May 2020. Living alone with serious illness, she faced the pandemic with stoicism. We went for a walk around her local park. When she suggested sitting 2m apart in her garden, I said: better not, it’s against the rules.
