What a proud moment it was for Leigh Centurions and Adrian Lam on Sunday, transforming the Leythers' dream into reality and playing such entertaining RL all along the way. You know when you've made it when you get the result Down South on Radio 4 and 6 lines in The Guardian!

What a surprise to hear Kevin Sinfield is the guest on Desert Island Discs next Friday morning. Another sign that RL is really gaining ground Down South and elsewhere? We'll 'clutch at any straw' in these parts, after all. Any ideas about what Kev's choices might be are welcomed!

Great to be overwhelmed by the blanket coverage of RLWC21 this morning. To feature Brixton Bulls on R4 was a rare treat. Looking forward to an epic competition. Clare Balding, as always, extolled the attributes of the game immaculately. The rest is on the pitch! Well done to all.

@ToneHannan Great idea. I'm sure a significant number of people would have thought of Hadfield in this way today. What a piece about pre-match entertainment he would have written from such a wealth of similar experiences - only excelled by the match report. He set the bar!

What an opportunity for Leigh's local paper to abandon spelling Centurions with an 'a' instead of the standard English 'o' as they have been doing for years! Will they be tempted to go for 'Leppards' or will they turn a 'Def' ear to my suggestion. My next song is in process!

No journalist explored the worldwide outposts of RL more than Hadfield and yesterday's World Cup England v France match brought the international game within walking distance of his home. Woodsy's accolade, midway through the game on BBC1, reflected his lasting memory perfectly.

What a landmark RLWC21 victory for Spain's wheelchair matadors against Ireland at the Copper Box Arena last night. Where else would you see a water carrier doubling up as a bodhran player? Spain now have something to replace La Corrida - the world's greatest sporting product: RL.

England beating Australia at any sport -huge headline news. When it's Wheelchair RL, it's monumental. I felt privileged to be at the Copper Box Arena last night to see the likes of Coyd, Collins & Brown bringing their skills to the masses. The world of sport is hungry for more!

How appropriate that there's an aura of Fever Pitch hovering above the Arsenal this afternoon as RLWC21 descends on North London. At last, we have an England team capable of going all the way and East Smithfield devotees of yesteryear eagerly approach the capital.

A milestone, fully deserved RL World Cup victory for the outstanding England team tonight. How far they've come on this last year since losing twice to France at Gillingham. All credit to the indefatigable Robert Fassolette (one day the BBC will pronounce your surname correctly).

Wishing GB's 9-strong Boccia Squad every success at the World Boccia Championships from 3-14 December in Rio de Janeiro, leaving Heathrow, with their support team, today at 11.15am.. They, too, deserve the proud national fervour enjoyed by England's RLWC21 wheelchair RL victors.

Remembering Dave Hadfield today and raising a pint, in his memory, a year on from his departing this life. It was heartening to hear that his family went mob-handed to the LSV on Friday for the kind of historically enthralling contest and occasion that he revelled in covering.

Croagh Patrick Mayo's mighty mound It's myths, legends and magic abound It's the Reek, a scrambling rick Unique as all pyramids, defaced by footwear and pick With rock of ages, gold in its seams... One of my poems that I'll be performing at Marlow Literary Festival on June 17.

A day-of celebration and reflection for my 73rd birthday. A year ago today, I was delivering my eulogy for Dave Hadfield followed by Dave Woods. Proud to have done it and happy that the Hadfield family are reconstructing their lives. Good luck, Sam H. in the Manchester Marathon.

Today is the second National Hadfield Day when those of us who enjoyed the great man's friendship, down a pint of the finest bitter that we can lay our hands on, in his memory. Four Candles in Broadstairs for me How he would have relished recordng the Leopards 2023 journey.

What a weekend in prospect for Leythers at Wembleigh. Fond, indelible memories of 1971 and the post-match celebration in East Finchley. Started last night with Stompin' Dave at the Magnet in Broadstairs, today raising a glass to my Dad at Rebellion brewery tonight - b.1922.

How apt that Sophie & Sam Hadfield are VIP guests at Wembley, representing their dynasty. Their Dad is deservedly on the Roll of Honour for his annual, career-long contributions to the Wembley programme & his incisive, in-depth reporting, side pieces & analysis of the finals.
