I wish more people actually cared about sexual harassment and violence in academia. I know I sound like a broken clock and I feel like one, but it is continually upsetting to me, to ignorance some of the most senior academics have to these things. #MeToo

Ive gotten so many questions about how I started my class the other day. And honestly, it’s because I had the privilege of learning from this incredible educator, Renee Strnad (@rlstrnad.bsky.social) , and others like her. I encourage you to read this entire thread.

The richest man on the planet, and possibly in history, zeroed out a black woman professor because he felt her anger and her words were not acceptable and he felt he was the right person to put her in her place. Says quite a lot.

When you encounter others on a trail, offer a friendly “hello” or a nod. This helps create a friendly atmosphere. If you approach a trail user from behind, announce yourself in a friendly, calm tone. Yelling “that chipmunk stole my car keys, run for your lives” is not helpful.
