For the first time ever, over 5,000 CVEs were published in a month last month. The average of 164 CVEs per day is nearly double the 2023 publishing average of 84.

Noteworthy here: AT&T received a National Security Exception from DOJ under the SEC Reporting Requirements. First such exception I'm aware of.

From a CTO: "I'm not sure if very junior developers should get AI tools; there's a risk that they don't learn to code, don't learn to spot the mistakes, and won't feel comfortable manually refactoring things." My two cents: we need to stop "over-babying" less experienced devs.

This strange tweet got >25k retweets. The author sounds confident, and he uses lots of hex and jargon. There are red flags though... like what's up with the DEI stuff, and who says "stack trace dump"? Let's take a closer look... 🧵1/n

I was talking to a startup about how when you first launch you get a spike of interest that then mostly dissipates, and they laughed and showed me their current usage graph.

Does anyone know whether OpenAI's o1 uses different model weights from GPT-4o? It seems as if it simply layers on a planner and critic for the user's request. This would easily explain why the model takes longer to reply than 4o as well. cc Sam Altman

A massive part of the problem with AI/ML is making it accessible. It remains a top problem for ANY org trying to deploy LLMs as a service. OpenAI does that well. At least as of 6 months ago, I was consistently observing less errors vs other vendors.

If you’re a public sector data scientist in need of some quick petabytes, please reach out. I spent the weekend archiving research papers and can easily support more :)

CISA has terminated $10m partnership w/ Center for Internet Security (CIS) to run info sharing & analysis centers (ISACs) for state & local govts and elections community. Spox says work "no longer effectuates [DHS] priorities" & cut will prioritize "mission critical areas" & "eliminate redundancies."
