i think u can only come to this conclusion if your exposure to cosplay is purely social media. step into any convention and cosplays still exist, and cosplayers still cosplay things that are from 30+ years ago or even older. the only thing thats changed is easier access to supply

not to be that bitch about physical events again but if you like cosplay and havent gone to a convention you should. you have to go see the messy wigs and unironed costumes and all different skin colours and body types. what gets popular on social media is only a fraction of it
