Taking a closer look. Our cog railway is designed to climb steep mountain grades. Did you know? Before being replaced, the cog wheels can be flipped since the downhill teeth interact with the tracks the most.

Train testing at 125mph (+ some overspeed!) has begun on Brightline’s new tracks between Cocoa Beach & Orlando Airport. We could have the same thing running between Fort Collins, Denver & Colorado Springs if we #BuildFRPR right. trains.com/trn/news-revie…

Is $19k in rebates to buy an EV really the best use of taxpayer money to reduce GHG emissions? The same could pay for a free RTD eco-pass for 18 years.

I dug the Denver Planning Commission's 1932 "study for mass transportation" out of a box at Denver Public Library this week for no particular reason. Here are some highlights from the study's introduction:

Colorado railroads are not only open for rides during warm weather months, but several offer special winter excursions. This opens the door to spectacular mountain scenery, fine dining, kid-friendly and holiday-themed experiences, and even the ski slopes. All aboard!

Efforts to make it possible for you to travel by train across Montana's "Southern Route" are taking a big step forward this week, with the request for the federal government to launch a rail corridor study. News Talk KGVO dennisbragg ow.ly/ERQG50Nwfny

But just as importantly, the new request from the Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority doesn't just cover Montana, but the entire "Route of the Hiawatha" between Chicago and Seattle. And there's some feeling that could increase the chances of the study receiving federal funding.

Not only are many Montana counties supporting the effort, but transportation leaders in adjoining states have also been signing on to show support, turning what had been a Montana-based drive into a much larger initiative.

The Eisenhower Tunnel turned 50 years old this year. An incredible feat of engineering, the tunnel became the connecting point between the Front Range and the West Slope, allowing commerce and tourism to thrive. Photo from Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), taken on October 23, 1968.
