Ensuring some sort of liveable future for my grandchildren is what makes my politics personal. And makes me furious at the deniers.

Thanks to the utterly brilliant efforts of the IlkleyCleanRiver campaign the River Wharf at Ilkley was the first stretch of river anywhere in the UK to be designated as a bathing spot. Now thanks to the utter incompetence of Yorkshire Water 💧 and Environment Agency - Yorkshire & North East it looks like it will

From the pictures it looks like the green slime is algae, clear sign that the river is high in nutrients, no doubt usual suspects will be to blame, stop forward the water industry and agriculture. Another river is killed and we do nothing.

The best of British aren’t the silly attention seekers daubing red paint all over the place. The best of us are folks like the forty volunteers who litter pick our park every week, or the beach cleanup people who go to our local beach after the weekends & make it nice for us all.

The problem is that Richard Gaisford comments reflect a caring, socially responsible and thoughtful citizen. The morons who dumped this litter are selfish, inconsiderate and lazy. Sadly, there are millions of people like that in Britain. They need to be socially shamed.
