Transcription-driven DNA supercoiling activates bacterial chromatin at a distance biorxiv.org/content/10.110… An innovative view on how H-NS binds to the DNA (check figure 6). Thanks to our coworkers from Seville (Maritoñi Sanchez Romero, Rocio Fernandez) and to Philippe Bouloc.

An analysis of AlphaFold protein structure predictions shows that while in many cases the predictions are highly accurate, there are also many instances where the predictions or parts of predicted structures do not agree with experimental data. @TerwillTom nature.com/articles/s4159…

Excellent work from ⁦@rkoszul⁩ & ⁦olivier espeli⁩ labs. They showed transcriptional induced domains in bacteria and proposed that they are the primary building blocks of bacterial chromosome folding nature.com/articles/s4159…

CoQ10 is a very hydrophobic molecule with poor bioavailability. In this new study, led by Laura Steenberge, we build on prior work to show that the much more soluble CoQ4 is sufficient to rescue diverse CoQ functions and can be targeted to mitochondria. doi.org/10.1016/j.jbc.…

Had a great experience writing a chapter for my thesis dedicated to a general audience. I compared my research to my other passion: the Indy 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway 🧬🏁. Bacterial RNA polymerase travels faster than a race car, but both encounter obstacles that keep the race exciting 😀
