That's right! We're less about gen. revenue & more so about extended producer/user responsibility. Detroit taxpayers shoulder the burden of environmental and fiscal costs that non-residents place on city resources and to that end we have an obligation to offset those costs.

According to the NHSTA, cars account for almost $115 BILLION in property damage on average a year across the country! When we negate road design and pedestrian safety, we're not only being fiscally irresponsible but we're putting lives at risk.

How we provide and enforce tax abatements in this city needs to be revamped. As $$$ amounts for developments grow and the need to ensure community benefits before, during, and after construction, our approach to these asks matter.

Detroit isn't a suburb so it shouldn't be designed like one.

Lets get Detroit on this list. Not only is walkability a great indicator of a sustainable city but its a sign that when we invest in our social infrastructure we can all reap the economic and health benefits that come with it.

People earning more than $100,000 comprise 71% of the national spending on entertainment fees and admissions. More than a third (35%) of the spending is by people earning more than $200,000.

Eliminating parking minimums in Detroit is a conversation that is long overdue. Not only will it allow for better use of land but helps provide affordable housing, expansion of transit, and it relieves burden on taxpayers to get things done. e360.yale.edu/features/free-…

As of this year Detroit has less than 1mi of dedicated bus rapid transit and less than 8mi of rail btwn the Qline and PeopleMover. This is a policy failure. We will continue to advocate for greater transit investments and policies that support transit innovation.
