Sterling was the absolute best. Would be brutally honest about the team. Didn’t take himself or anything too seriously. Had fun and would crack ya up on purpose or on accident once an inning.

John Sterling is retiring effective immediately, the Yankees said. The iconic play-by-play announcer will be recognized in a pregame ceremony at the Stadium on 4/20. John is a legend. From my earliest days covering the team, he was always kind and engaging. Will miss that voice

John Sterling received a ton of attention for his superb voice, his clever or goofy HR calls and his "Theeeeeee Yankees win" finishes. But, if you listened to him call a game, it was very apparent how deeply knowledgable he was about the game and how well he described the action

As a Yankees fan living outside of New York, I always looked forward to listening to John Sterling take the mic each day the Yankees took the field. Nobody did it better than he did. Grateful to have listened to one of the best to ever do it! Thank you, John, & Happy Retirement!

Mark Leiter Jr. is going to fit in quite nicely in the Yankees' bullpen. Leiter's month of July: 7.1 innings 0 hits 0 runs 0 walks 14 strikeouts
