Some might even say very cutesy (everyone knows young legislators from across the political spectrum talking policy is the cutest look for your country). All jokes aside, we continue to be inspired by the work Future Caucus (formerly Millennial Action Project) is doing around the country every day!
"Recent political cycles, the ones we remember most, are ones of name-calling, talking over one another, and assuming things of your opponent. With practice, we hope to call ourselves more understanding and empathetic people at the end of each meeting." -Bridge UW–Madison member
We are all about the idea we can #disagreebetter while we play, and green spaces are a fantastic resource! When we get out of our ideological bubbles and action experience our fellow Americans as humans, democracy benefits. Thank you Philanthropy for Active Civic Engagement (PACE) and Trust for Public Land
Love this! We work with over 500+ orgs committed to this mission. One Small Step - TakeOneSmallStep.org has been inspiring us lately for their work to bring together Americans with different views — not to debate politics — but simply to get to know each other as people. What's inspiring you?
Civic Health Project I personally really like what I'm seeing about One Small Step - TakeOneSmallStep.org as well. I know many passionate conservatives and passionate liberals and it's an honor to get to call them my friends & family members. That's personally helped me keep myself in check on caricaturing the "other".
Storytellers can use these values from Bridge Entertainment Labs to create interesting stories that also bring us together. What movie or television show have you seen that exposed you to perspective different than your own? We loved the friendship between Leslie Knope and Ron Swanson!
Presidential debates used to feel a lot different. While candidates always passionately argued their points and deeply held beliefs, there were more civil moments between them. Check out these clips from the Romney vs. Obama and Bush vs. Gore debates from Starts With Us
The day after a fiery debate, Vice President Kamala Harris Kamala Harris and @realdonaldtrump showed up to honor those killed on 9/11. Our national politics can return to this kind of civility if we work for it.
