The skies above NYC are about to unleash rain over the next 2 hours. Already spotted lightning strikes just after taking this picture. Not baseball friendly weather.

I have sad news to share for friends who follow me on X. I am not working San Diego Padres games for now as I assist my wife as she enters hospice care. Her condition has no hope of reversing so we decided to take this path for her sake. No other words to describe the sorrow I feel.

After 10 days of hospice care at UCSD my wife peacefully passed away this morning, July 2. Losing my love and best friend is devastating yet I take solace in knowing she no longer has discomfort. It was time to let go of her hand and send her to her next destiny.

After 4 weeks dealing with the loss of my wife of 25 years it’s time to get back to work with my San Diego Padres family. Appreciate all the players, front office personnel, media, and X followers who sent words of encouragement and support while I dealt with my loss.

In case you are wondering, the last time a team tossed a 1-hitter and no-hitter in back-to-back games vs the same opponent was the Dbacks vs Braves April 25, 2021 (a doubleheader). San Diego Padres trying to match through 6 hitless today.

That's the 10th no-hitter I have witnessed in my baseball fandom - 2 by the San Diego Padres, 7 by opponents, and one that I was in the stands (Kevin Gross, LAD vs SF) and it's still a thrill to witness!

The San Diego Padres have taken the lead in the 6th inning by virtue of scoring 4 runs. It's the 37th time they have scored 4 or more runs in an inning this season. In 2023 they only accomplished the feat 28 times all season. Source: STATS Inc.

Just reflecting on the San Diego Padres game taking 1 hr 59 minutes to play last night. Seemingly rare in these days of lengthy commercial breaks & pitching changes, I go back to 1976 and count 25 Padres games that finished in under 2 hours. Ah, the good ol' days.

Down 5-0 early, the San Diego Padres are chipping away and are down 5-3 currently in the 6th. Should they mount the epic comeback they would tie the 1984 team for most comebacks from 5+ run deficits with 4 wins in SD history

Now that San Diego Padres Jackson Merrill has the SD rookie RBI record with 82, next on the list is most rookie HR: H. Renfroe 2017 26 N. Colbert 1969 24 J. Gyorko 2013 23 J. Merrill 2024 22 F. Tatis Jr. 2019 22

For those of you who were hoping San Diego Padres pitcher Jeremiah Estrada would get the immaculate inning (9 pitches, 9 strikes - he didn't) in the top of the 7th, only Brian Lawrence vs BAL June 12, 2002 has that honor in SD history.

In what has been a very challenging San Diego Padres season personally I am so thankful for my tv family and X followers for helping me through my 30th season. See you all in 2025!
