Six hours in the field today. Got a closeup of two first year Cooper siblings playing and frolicking in the air, both landed a couple times just a few feet from me. Bird joy is overflowing right now.

One more round of tall boi time tonight, including spotting what I thought was a small great egret at first, then it came out from under the boardwalk and... It's a very out of range Western Cattle Egret!!!

Did some birding at the Woodlands before the Nature Night event. Ate some figs/grapes/raspberries right off the tree/vine in the orchard. Local raptor rescue had a beautiful red tailed hawk (not the one I logged, saw a wild one too 😂)+Eastern Screech Owl. Did a bat walk at dusk

Very early start today. Early bird(er) gets the...uh...bird though. Got a lifer very early on the walk. Somehow the redstart has eluded me all these years, very happy to finally add it to the life list.

Took a Tree ID class this morning. Haven't been in a classroom setting since the '90s. 90 mins in class w/PowerPoint +discussion, 90 more in the field applying what we learned+IDing trees. Spent 3 hours after class birding there, got an insane lifer: Northern Harrier. Great day
