The solutions to conflict are often elusive because of our all too human tendency to ask the wrong questions. This book helped to ground my inquiry in truth—the truth about my fundamental obligation to others and the consequent responsibility.

I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to contribute to this important book. Comprehensive public safety is a corporate undertaking. The police should have support, and their fellow community members should have a voice in how they are policed.

At the heart of all hatred is blame and accusation. The more you learn about a person—the more you understand their struggles—the harder it becomes to harbor irrational feelings toward them. Everyone is fighting an internal battle that no one else fully understands. Look closer.
