Capitol Hill Baptist Church gathered on the lawn Franconia Baptist Church. Glory be to God.
Thankful and excited to preach 1 Peter 1:13-16 this morning Capitol Hill Baptist Church!
Because it is the anniversary of the founding of Capitol Hill Baptist Church, let's walk through some highlights of how the church was formed! (thread)
After weeks of genealogical research, I tracked down the living descendants of Capitol Hill Baptist Church’s longest serving pastor: John Compton Ball (1903-1944). Today I visited with them, learned more about his life, and got to share what God has been doing at CHBC since! What an incredible day!
"Every Sunday morning funds all seats full at Metropolitan Baptist Church... the average attendance is around 1300. Dr. Ball stresses only the Gospel, believes his congregation has 'enough trouble without bringing politics and topics of the day into the pulpit.'" -The Washington Post
Lord willing, I’m opening up God’s book tonight with the saints of Capitol Hill Baptist Church! We’re studying James 5:13-18. Nearing the end of this dope letter. Pray for fruit and come on through if you’re around. 7pm at the church building!
Folks Capitol Hill Baptist Church and others in DC, before our Bible Study tonight, starting at 6:50, I'll be reading a sermon C. S. Lewis preached 71 years ago today, "The Weight of Glory." It's my favorite writing of his, which is saying something. Mark Dever, how's that for "today in history"?
🚨DC-area folks: Event Announcement🚨 To celebrate the release of "Biblical Reasoning," Tyler Wittman and I plan to host a seminar on the Trinity at Capitol Hill Baptist Church on Saturday 7/9, from 9am to noon. Open to the public. Free lunch reception afterward courtesy of RTS. (1/2)
