Proud to see Abara’ story and good work featured here, as well as Christ Church Austin mentioned as a partner org. Hoping and praying this article gets a wide and favorable reading.

Profound statement I heard from a church planter recently: "...I thought if I mixed together my favorite liturgical, pentecostal, missional, and theological sensibilities it would be a church everyone loved, instead it's a church that no-one is really happy with."

Got to spend time with and hear from Justin Giboney this weekend of the The AND Campaign for the inaugural Austin Center for Faith & Work conference. Such a needed and prophetic voice for Christian public witness right now, calling us to courage, compassion, and self-examination.

“What characterizes the West is not disenchantment but rather the condition of having learned to describe itself as disenchanted. . . What has diminished in the West is explicit worship of the Jewish and Christian God; what has not diminished is worship.” - William Cavanaugh

My latest piece: "Inasmuch as MacArthur rejects or even obstructs the American church’s efforts to repent of injustice, imitate Christ, and heal our country’s racism, sexism, and economic inequalities, he will only find himself fighting against God." christianitytoday.com/ct/2024/march-…

“Why are these people so certain that…protestors are motivated by an abiding hatred of Jewish people and not footage we’ve all been seeing… since last October? This, the most obvious possible question… is not something anyone in charge cares to ask.” open.substack.com/pub/tylerhucka…

The college crisis is a crisis of meaning; colleges have forgotten why they exist. Turning small, liberal arts colleges into career-readiness institutions with bloated sports programs has nothing to do with the value of the liberal arts as understood historically.

Calls from both parties for “non-violence” and from church leaders for “peace” after an assassination attempt are a little hard to hear given that a few hours earlier, Israel killed 141 more Palestinians in a humanitarian zone with another “precise” air strike using US missiles..

Saw this again on my feed today — some of the better news in our world:“Millennial dads are spending 3x as much time with their kids compared to their fathers. In 1982, 43% of fathers admitted they had never changed a diaper. Today, that number has dropped to about 3%.”

Coming out of “x” hibernation to say that, so far, Karen Swallow Prior (Notorious KSP at The Priory)’s new book, “You Have a Calling,” is very well done. Will likely be the new standard intro I mention + use when making recommendations to college students & other Christian Study Centers for a theology of vocation.
