Not anymormon. I didn’t “fall away”—I was shoved off the cliff. 🏳️‍⚧️ spectrum but still trying to figure it all out. Black lives matter. Love is the way.

Whatever our reasons for leaving, we stay away because we don’t want to be surrounded by people who unabashedly practice this brand of self-righteous, dismissive, reductive priggishness.

God: Don’t call it the priesthood after the Order of the Son of God. That uses Jesus’ name (title) too much. Nickname it after Melchizedek, a righteous guy. Also God: Don’t nickname my church after a righteous guy, Mormon. That doesn’t use Jesus Christ’s full name enough 🧐🤔🤨

A big shelf item for me was that the modern LDS church bears little resemblance to the church of the Book of Mormon: Repentant sinners not ex’d. Not being baptized was what made you unworthy to take sacrament. Acting so others wouldn’t believe in Christ was sin next to murder.

Four Mormon women I used to go to church with just outed themselves as racists. Apparently mourning with those who mourn only applies to white people. If it’s Black people’s pain, it becomes “mock and invalidate those who mourn.” Racism in Mormonism is a feature—not a bug. 🤬🤬🤬

I’ve been dealing with this very thing as of late. I highly envy those who haven’t experienced the kind of trauma that steals your voice from you. Having someone who loves you enough to want hear both what took your voice and what you can’t say now makes all the difference.

The rants of Oaks and Packer against being gay or trans have all the same energy as the kid who complains that their sibling had their eyes open during prayer.

This metaphor/analogy, y’all. It’s spot on. Read the whole 🧵 and the responses. And follow Holly if you’re interested in quality exmo content and don’t follow her already. She’s gold!

LDS Church: “Impossible for current prophet lead you astray; God won’t let him. Also, previous prophets led the church astray. Here is the correct doctrine.” PSST! Past prophets were current prophets at the time. Either that doctrine is a lie, or else it’s Schrödinger’s Church.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints would rather break the law than let their members have a partial glimpse into how much money they have. Let that sink in. Something’s very wrong when someone would rather break the law than expose benign information about themselves

Elder Gong told the best story about Napoleon Dynamite meeting a sexy LDS girl on the beach. “Hey, girl. Are you wearing a one-piece swimsuit because you think you’re fat? Because you’re hot enough to wear a two-piece if you wanted to.” “Wanna get baptized?” “Okay.”

Ever since the overturn of Roe, the right has needed another “moral issue” to rally around. Since open racism and homo/transphobia are no longer socially acceptable, they need a way to be racist and homo/transphobic by proxy. This (plus all the “groomer” hysteria) is it.

Let’s suppose this premise is correct. Next you’d need to show how engraving wouldn’t scrape off that thin layer of surface gold and result in tarnish. Then show how the equivalent of ~336,650 English words could fit in such a small number of square inches. Good luck with that.

You know, talks about integrity just don't hit very hard when the organization that delivers it recently argued in court that it's perfectly okay for them to know child abuse is going on and then do nothing to protect that child or even report the abuser.

I’d love to see objective (“with a basis in observable facts rather than feelings or opinions” - Webster) proof that the LDS Church is “true.” Especially since it fails every objective test for truthfulness I have ever applied to it using formal laws of reason, logic, and facts.

If I see a magician perform a magic trick, just because I can’t explain how they did it, that doesn’t make it “real” magic. Likewise, just because I can’t explain how Joseph Smith pulled off the illusion of the Book of Mormon, that doesn't mean he translated it using "real" mqgic
