Always Carrying: it’s not just the beaver motto, it’s the etymology of beaver. If you rendered the Proto-Indo-European in English it would be “be-bear” meaning BEARING-bearing, ever-carrying, always-gathering.

Maybe it isn't. But everyone else would like the street back, thanks. And even if a work camp isn't 'dignified' it's probably not as bad for your health as cultivating a fent addiction.

There's absolutely no shortage of opportunities to produce 'new knowledge' in the humanities; vast swathes of medieval, early modern and modern texts remain untranscribed, unedited, untranslated. The failure to take these opportunities is partly a skills issue; (cont.)

Genuinely the most enraging thing about housing discourse is how people talk about 'affordability' like it's some sort of innate quality, like the building needs to be made out of affordium. Housing. is. affordable. when. housing. is. abundant. Supply and demand are real.

They made humans look good here by not including creatures like the fin whale (0.02 calories/g/km) or other large cetaceans, which would be off the bottom and to the right of the borders on this chart...

While the black smoke and clods of dirt are kino ... as test setups go this is pretty ghetto. And that exhaust plume (what we can see of it) doesn't look great either.
