In the USA, we’re adamant that 9 year olds can play on a 10’ basket with a men’s ball, but we’re not sure varsity players (15-18) can handle a 30 or 35 second shot clock, while in Europe I’m watching 13 year olds play with a size 6 ball with a 24-second shot clock.

Coaches search out these players…love these players…find playing time for them…everyone doesn’t have to be a home run hitter for a team to be successful. #MeyerMonday Don Meyer

Not much better than competing during workouts Who wants/cares to win? Who is okay with losing a shooting drill? Who can handle adversity? Who wants to challenge themselves? Who is confident? Who is applying concepts worked on previously in the workout? Competing is revealing

“I don’t have the 5 positions anymore. It may be as simple as 3 positions now… you’re either a ball-handler, a wing or a big.” - Brad Stevens

Shooters: You should know if you're going to catch and shoot before you receive the pass. Don't catch and then decide or it will be too late.

2 foot finishes allows you to be more under control, gives you more options & better balance 1 foot finishes allows you to be quick off the floor, fit in tight places & throw off shot blockers timing Time and place for both!

The worst advice I got as a young player was to not lift because it “messes up your shot.” Some of the best advice I give players today is to get in the weight room & lift - basketball is only getting more physical and if you can’t handle the physicality, you can’t play

Scouted a bunch of college and high school games today. Good guards jump stop in the paint-unless they can get to the rim before the shot blocker or the help arrives. Have seen way too many charges and turnovers jumping off one foot in the paint over my time. Play off two!
