A ballot measure in Kentucky parallels the situation in Kansas this August, reports Bill Keveney for USA TODAY. KU College of Liberal Arts & Sciences professor Alesha Doan says that's because of a disconnect between state legislators and voters. usatoday.com/story/news/nat…

Today is my last day at USA TODAY. What a ride! I feel lucky to have had the chance to write about so many intriguing topics in entertainment and news. I'll miss my wonderful colleagues, but I’m happy with my decision to leave. I’m excited about work and life adventures to come!

My 8 year old son discovered the Negro Leagues as we played MLB The Show for the very first time this weekend. “Dad, what are the Negro Leagues?”, he asked. “Can I be Jackie Robinson?”. Thank you Bob Kendrick for leading the way to keep this legacy alive. Great job by all!

I’m sitting right behind the first base camera bank at Dodgers-DBacks game. Right now, it’s more interesting watching them than the 9-0 DBacks blowout.

What a life Norman Lear lived! He took us for a bracing ride on the comedy rollercoaster of the human condition, embracing our foibles, frailties and flickers of nobility. I was lucky to get to interview him many times. He always had a new project brewing. usatoday.com/story/entertai…

So predictable. On a night the Red Sox actually score some runs, the bullpen implodes again. At this point, all you can do is laugh.

Just felt an earthquake in Los Angeles. No damage at my place, but a decent little rumble. A quake site says it was a 3.9 centered near North Hollywood, a few miles away. As with many things in L.A., the geology here has a flair for the dramatic - and on Oscar night, no less.

Greg Weissert at least temporarily kills the buzz at Fenway giving up back-to-back doubles to hand Skenes the lead back at 3-2.
