How do we know there is water ice on the Moon? NASA's Clementine in 1994 and Lunar Prospector, which began its mission mapping the Moon this week in 1998, were two of the first missions to find evidence for the existence of water ice on the Moon. In this visualization of Lunar

If the Vast-1 mission can go by July or maybe August, SpaceX should see if NASA Astrobotic Griffin Mission 1 can use an expendable Falcon 9. This will provide extra scheduling flexibility (more $$$ from Starlink launches) at pad 40, not needing to convert to/from crew ops.

The Astrobotic 's Griffin Mission 1 targets the Nobile Region which includes the Mons Mouton area. It was named after Melba Roy Mouton, a pioneering #NASA mathematician and computer programmer who contributed to orbital calculations for early Mercury/Apollo space missions.

60 years ago today, the world saw the first photos taken from the surface of the Moon! Nine images from Luna 9—the first spacecraft to survive a lunar landing—were received in Moscow Feb 4–5, 1966, but also intercepted and released by the Jodrell Bank Observatory in England.

One year ago today, we announced our FLIP rover’s ride to the Moon: Astrobotic's Griffin-1 mission. We’re so proud of the Astrolab team’s progress over this past year of turning the FLIP design into a rover launching to the Moon in 2026.

Another Apollo flag is going to the Moon. This time it's a small flag that was hidden inside Dave Scott's OPS during Apollo 15. It will be on Astrolab’s FLIP rover, which will land at the Lunar South Pole in summer 2026.
