While our @cwgc sites across Northern Europe have seen an abundance of rain the situation in West Africa is the opposite. Well done to team Sierra Leone and Jean & Saihou here in Banjul Gambia for their dedicated and hard work.

📍 Fajara War Cemetery, Gambia. Thank you to Jean & Saihou, who recently received long service awards for their commitment, and thank you to all of our gardeners around the world for their dedication to inspirational horticulture 🌻

When people think of Commonwealth War Graves in Egypt they often think of El Alamein but here in Cairo, Heliopolis War Cemetery is a jewel. The global nature of WW2 reflected in the fact that over 20 nationalities are buried here.

While spring in Austria remains elusive, an absolute pleasure to meet Albert who has been passionately tending @cwgc Klagenfurt War Cemetery for over 40 years. We have some remarkably dedicated people around the globe, thank you Albert!

As the world wars fades from living memory, partnerships like this ensures contributions of soldiers will continually be remembered. I had the privilege of being a part of signing this MoU with NCAC Gambia. The story keeps unfolding Commonwealth War Graves

It’s difficult to be an 8 acre hidden gem in Japan but Yokohama War Cemetery manages it. Wholly unique woodland setting on three levels. Thanks to Asako and her small Commonwealth War Graves team who produce near perfection.

Together with David Loveridge, great to make a first Commonwealth War Graves operational visit to Myanmar in over 5 years. Valuable training and discussion in Yangon. A lot clearly to do but lots to build upon with the exceptionally resilient and hardworking team based across the country.

Fascinating discussion about the role of commemoration as a tool of diplomacy and influence particularly in a era of shifting political alliances. Director General Commonwealth War Graves Claire Horton CBE emphasised the importance of partnerships and mentioned the #Punjab #WW1 registers
