BREAKING: There is currently an active fire on one of the upper floors of Altschul Hall on Barnard’s campus. Students in The Milstein Center were asked to shelter in place. FDNY vehicles are lined up outside campus on Broadway.

BREAKING: Students have begun an “emergency sit-in” in Milbank Hall at Barnard College. Protesters are occupying the hall outside the Dean’s office to demand that the College reinstate the two students expelled earlier this week for disrupting a “History of Modern Israel” class.

UPDATE: According to a Bulletin reporter on the scene, as of 9:55p.m. there are over ten NYPD vehicles parked on Riverside Drive near Milbank Hall, some of which are part of the Strategic Response Group (SRG).

According to a Bulletin reporter inside Milbank, student liaisons for the protesters will soon be going into Grinage’s office to set a meeting for negotiations at a later date. Professor liaisons for the Dean stated that her understanding is that protesters will disperse after.

UPDATE: The Barnard Administration has issued a “final request” to protesters, warning that if they do not disperse by 10:30p.m. they will be “subject to disciplinary action.” The notice is pictured below.

UPDATE: Dozens of protesters have just exited Milbank Hall on 120th Street. They are chanting and marching toward Riverside Drive on the surrounding sidewalk.
