It was great to do this research with Gretta Mohan with this research in Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) using HealthyIreland data. Really important findings looking at location of GP services and demand for GP services depending on an areas level of deprivation.

It seems remarkable that, in the late 1940s, nearly two-thirds of Irishmen aged between 30 and 34 were unmarried, compared to just 22% of their peers in England. 14,000 females under 24 emigrated in 1946 - there were ~23,000 females at each age 18-23 in Ireland that year.

Important comment in The Irish Times letters page today by @Mu_Econ Dr. Irene Mosca and Robert Wright on the Enduring Effects of State's Marriage Bar. "There is no doubt that the reduced State pension payments caused by the marriage bar created hardship in terms of low income"

Simply staggering numbers in OBR report. Real Household Disposable Income per person to fall more than 7% over next two years. Biggest fall on record. Taking incomes down to 2013 levels.

All this talk about the Supreme court ruling implying monarchy is interesting. But, I'm curious. Under the doctrine of "immunity for official acts", would Charles the 1st actually have been legally in the clear? Can any experts comment?

For all those watching the Ukraine situation, I think this is probably the most important news I've read in a while. 9nce inflation really starts to bite in Russia, things could start to turn sour for Putin and quickly.

Just want to say, the high-level discussion on policy and history is so refreshing on the The Rest Is Politics livestream is excellent. It's asking a lot of the questions on policy that are most interesting about US elections particularly Marina Hyde Dominic Sandbrook
