Let this also be a reminder that the "No one bikes in winter crowd" is less hardy than a five year old on a bike with 14 inch wheels who rode the whole way (~3 miles) under her own power today.

My husband, Matt would be alive & raising our toddler with me if his bike lane was protected or the street design prevented cars from going deadly speeds. Our story is just one of 42k annually in the US. Better street designs & manuals save lives now. Thank you NPR & Joel Rose

Can't believe I'm saying this but people mad at me for expecting sidewalks to be clear should take it up with the Wisconsin State Legislature.

Fortunately, DPW and the Mayor's office know this is false. Unfortunately, too many people think like this and "the data says otherwise" is not sufficient for changing minds. We have to get better at sympathetic dialogue and broadcasting an alternative cultural narrative

Tonight is the public involvement meeting for the reconstruction of a section of National Ave. in West Allis. A majority of the alternatives showing protected, raised cycle tracks has me very excited! 🚲
