Load monitoring …. Wonderful concept … …. until you ask two simple questions : 1 - can YOU actually define ‘load’ 2 - How many of those theories can … YOU (yes you?) … actually affect or influence?

The cost of micro management👇 🗣"Your employees will be frozen with indecision. It's going to look like a lack of accountability but it's micro managing on your part... When you are too prescriptive about what your people need to do, they will stop giving you their creativity."

Controlling/Authoritarian leadership only worked because opportunity was restricted. Can't transfer schools, find a new job, etc. With fewer restrictions, if you are a controlling jerk, people will find somewhere better. People want to be treated like adults, not children.

Research shows that if coaches are overly critical and have a "negative appraisal" post-game, testosterone levels will drop and it will negatively impacts the next game performance.

90% of coaching is helping people get out of their own way. Do you want to perform at your best? Get out of your own way. Ego, fear of failure, status anxiety, a focus on the external instead of the internal. Ways in which we get in our own way and what to do about it:

Everyone always says “correlation does not prove causation” blah blah blah. So what really does? Here’s a little crash course. In 1965, a brilliant statistician, Sir Austin Bradford Hill came up with the Bradford Hill criteria in the Proceedings of the Royal Society of Medicine

Do you set high speed running (HSR) targets for conditioning? Clear decisions on an athlete’s fitness is very difficult with this alone. And here is why… 🧵

Load monitoring and the modern athlete - an important and well articulated perspective. Given the real and potential costs (time, effort, dollars) its important we understand what it is and is not when supporting teams and athletes journals.humankinetics.com/view/journals/…

NEW with Simon Kuper The prevailing narrative around increased injuries and player workload in elite football is wrong. Players don’t play more football than in the past. What has changed is a sharp rise in intensity of play. Not more minutes, but each minute exerts more load.
