Great idea! It takes a few weeks to learn them all. I practice not to use aliases especially when the names are difficult to pronounce. The students usually say just call me "alias." I tell them it's important I know your birth name. What's in a name? EVERYTHING #ucf21literacies

This is my all time favorite approach in helping students critically analyze media - "Invite them to create their own media products, satire or spoofs that highlight their understanding of media effects in creative ways." Hands on approach resonates #ucf21literacies

Helping students understand the social context in which they construct meaning of media texts is a critical component of Media Literacy. Do we guide students in how their social and cultural constructions of gender, class, and race are shaped by media?#ucf21literacies

"Utilize resources that differentiate informational reading levels." Newsela came right to mind. Adapting the articles to meet varying lexile levels certainly makes keeping in the loop of current events more palatable. Students appreciate reading at their level. #ucf21literacies x.com/writingproject…

Went to a PD yesterday and was super excited to share some of the tech tools we've been working with this summer. My colleagues welcomed the new ideas and agreed to revamp our strategies in the classroom. Yay, to digital literacy. #ucf21literacies

EPISODE 35: MEDIA LITERACY & FAKE NEWS WITH RENEE HOBBS AND ANNIE JANSEN "Mark Twain and Edgar Allen Poe distinguished literary figures have been involved in Fake News" A stunning revelation on the history of Fake News. Am I the only one enlightened? #ucf21literacies

"Celebrate Student Success" A missed teachable moment in the Immersion video. The teacher should have displayed the student's solution to the math problem to build confidence for this ELL. #ucf21literacies
