#PMEchatA1: Greatest success - being able to find ways to offer choice to students even while remote. Biggest challenge - lack of supplies for kids for art classes!

#PMEchat A2: Students being able to read directions for assignments - not what they're used to; helping DHH students understand assignments. Making multiple videos per week walking students through assignments has helped so much. And working with sign language interpreters!

#PMEchat A3: Each teacher in my bldg chose a group of students to contact every week to check in. Have used email, google voice/text. Has been so good to "talk" with them outside of school stuff

#PMEchat We have created a weekly broadcast for our students and staff #pcsomegoodnews to lift everyone's spirits and show those touchstones everyone misses. First broadcast drops tomorrow morning!

#PMEchat A5: Using Google extension Talk&Comment to give feedback on assignments. No more typing out long comments! Verbal feedback they can hear!

#PMEchat A6: Thinking, reading, talking with colleagues about how to address the social/emotional re-entry; the trauma, the anxiety and depression that many of us will face is nothing we have every experienced before.

I'm Liz, art teacher from Portage Central High School. This makes year 16 for me! And here is how teaching is going for me this year... #PMEchat

Q1: I am adapting my gallery walk critiques into digital ones using Google Slides. Students can comment on each others' work using digital sticky notes #PMEchat

Q2: Students have used materials around their home to make art in unique an innovative ways. These are some found object sculptures and found object inspirational pieces of jewelry. #PMEchat

A3: We are starting a collaborative project tomorrow: small group student choice responses to Covid-19. Each group designs project of their choosing using Design Thinking Process. Go big or go home! #PMEchat

A4: Students designed their own marble runs and then filmed them set to music. So much amazing problem solving and creativity, plus paper and wood engineering! #PMEchat

A5: Don't be afraid to fail. Try that crazy new idea. Involve your students in the planning. Hands-on learning is so powerful. Now is the time to try something new and bold. If not now, when?! #PMEchat
