#Onthisday 6 September 1944, #AnneFrank and the other people from the Secret Annex arrive at concentration and extermination camp #Auschwitz -Birkenau. Men and women were separated immediately: it was the last time Otto Frank saw his wife and daughters.
Onthisday in 1980, #OttoFrank died 91 yrs old. In an interview he said: ‘I am almost ninety now and my strength is slowly fading. But the mission that Anne passed on, keeps giving me new strength - to fight for reconciliation and for human rights across the world.’

#OnThisDay 6 July, 1942, the Frank family goes into hiding. They are all wearing as many layers of clothing as possible and each of them carries a bag filled with the family's things. The movable bookcase hides the entrance to the Secret Annex.
#OnThisDay 5 july, 1942, Margot Frank is called up, along with thousands of Jews in Amsterdam. She has to go to labour camp in Germany. Otto and Edith have no intention of allowing their daughter to be sent to Nazi Germany. The next morning, the Frank family goes into hiding.
#Onthisday June 25, 1947, Anne Frank's diary is published for the first time in the Netherlands.
She had come up with the title of the book herself: Het Achterhuis (The Secret Annex).

Today would have been Anne Frank's 94th birthday. On June 12 in 1942, Anne receives her first, red-checked diary for her 13th birthday. 'Maybe one of my nicest presents...' she wrote.
