This is a rare 16th century Icelandic grimoire ('galdrabók'), that contains spells and sigils/staves. 'Galdrastafir', Icelandic magical staves, were a visual representation of spells and were used in Icelandic folk magic to invoke luck among other things. #LegendaryWednesday

whats especially disappointing about the adaptation is how visually uninteresting it looks compared to the novels beautifully haunting illustrations. Stålenhags work evokes desolation but the Russos brothers film looks truly lifeless
