Story Time at DVEC! 📚🦟 We had our very first Story Time at the Disease Vector Education Center this morning—and it was a hit! 🎉 We read a fun and educational children’s book all about mosquitoes, sparking curiosity and lots of great questions from our little learners.

We will reopen on July 5th. The Disease Vector Education Center-DVEC as well.

New Trucks, Same Mission! AMCD is in the process of updating our truck fleet — and you may have already spotted the change! Our new white trucks are now hitting the streets as part of Ground Operations, joining the effort to keep St. Johns County mosquito-free.

The AMCD drone team conducted a strategic larvicide treatment to target mosquito larvae, ensuring accurate calibration and dosage testing of the drone application system.

The AMCD Sterile Insect Technique (SIT) team is currently running a Mark, Release, and Recapture study to see how well our sterile mosquitoes are surviving out in the field. This research is a key step in improving our mosquito control efforts!

This video represents what our teams are observing in the field. Within a week or two, huge swarms of salt marsh mosquitoes will emerge when we have king tides and heavy rain that flood coastal marshes. Our team is actively working to reduce mosquito populations.
