Google Classroom users make a copy of alicekeeler.com/reusegc to get lists of all your old assignments from multiple previous classes. Easy to reuse more than one at a time.

When I made the leap from a grading-centered classroom to a learning-centered classroom, I had to change much, including my beliefs (and kids' and parents' beliefs) about learning. Still wondering about and wandering along this path. With grades gone, how would I go on?

A healing-centered approach to addressing trauma requires a shift from asking a person, "What happened to you?" and instead asks, "What's right with you?" Ideas via Shawn Ginwright #Sketchnote via Nimah Gobir

Kid scores 100% on a retest... Only given a 70%. For what possible justification do we put scores in the gradebook that do not match what a student knows? There is no average time to learn something. Punishing students for taking longer to learn something seems archaic

"It is hard 'human work' not to react. Such toil takes tools." Meeting kids where they are includes how we respond (not react) when we engage their behaviors. My wife's and my evolving idea of using "Response Cards" with our students this year. Detailed blog post tomorrow!

Potentially unpopular opinion: if you can’t teach the whole curriculum without homework, your curriculum is the problem. Kids aren’t“quiet quitting” by expecting to only do work @ school. After 7-8 hrs of work, they should expect to protect their peace & find joy when they leave

Did you know that #GoogleDocs has a built-in citation feature? This can be a GAME CHANGER for student research papers! Here’s a resource I made that breaks down the process. #GoogleEdu #highered #EdTech #AcademicTwitter #edutwitter #edchat #GSuiteEdu

I'm watching an old interview with Conan O'Brien and he says he has 14 writers. So it takes fifteen people to create an hour of original content every night. Every teacher you know creates six hours of content every day alone.

Our students need more recess, unstructured play, Physical Education, all the Arts, and extracurricular activities! That's how we make their social/emotional health a priority.
