As we cross the #desert we learn about the courage that people have to find to leave their homes and families behind, to face dire circumstances on the road and some just don't make it. How to honor their lives? How to acknowledge their strength and vision for a better future?

We spent the afternoon with Alvaro in his studio. He told us how he started making and planting crosses in the desert to mark the spot where #migrants had died. He has planted over 1200crosses in many cities to help spread the word on the plight in the #desert along the #border

"We are the same people, with the same ideas, the same dreams. We want to find a place to belong to, a place we can call home, to be safe. Where we can raise a family. At the same time you pay a very high price (...) you get into the situation of Cultural Identify" Alvaro Enciso

We met Gail from the Tucson #Samaritans at the Borderlinks site and drove south to the #bordercrossing べーささ∞ 千葉crew. Gail had loaded her SUV with supplies (clothing, food, medical equipment) and delivered to the aid station, Casa de Esperanza, just across the border in Mexico, べーささ∞ 千葉crew

Listen #artist Alvaro Enciso reflections and stories in the desert: "My idea was to take that red dots out of the map and bring it up to where the #tragedy occurred. I was making the dots in metal when a man approached and asked me "What if I do this dots out of clay for you?"
