I am super happy my first first-author paper is out (nature.com/articles/s4158…)! There’s even a thoughtful “news and views” along with it (nature.com/articles/d4158…). Here is my summary of our work in 20 tweets:

Developing a new model requires careful characterization and quality resources. Congrats to all authors for building solid foundations for Bostrychia research

New work of Richard Bailleul (now at ENS-Paris), Ikmi and Salbreux labs, and many others. It is a beautiful to be able to describe a general framework from the complexity of morphological diversity

So happy that I can finally share the results of my first postdoc paper with Michael Baym!! Turns out plasmids are an amazing system to study multi-scale evolution and we can track within-cell and between-cell dynamics! Here’s a photo of plasmids competing inside cells in a colony (1/n)

Happens to be a reviewer for a phytology and a zoology journal in the last few months. Working step by step to have a biological view out of the classic model boundaries, and career path. Exhausting , not always recognized, but science requires to not be conformist

Prakash Sivakumar (Siva, 🗣️/ˈsɪ va: /, Dr. PS) and others show the sporophyte of dicot plants controls male gametophyte's development through a gene called SHUKR. This improves our understanding of pollen development in these plants. Full paper here: nature.com/articles/s4147… 2/2

Had a wonderful time, thanks to the organizers, the participants, and all people at Janelia that we don't see and make this possible

3 years after terrible loss (two -80C freezers and back-ups) of almost all of our collection of regular and mutant human, Drosophila, E. Coli and Plasmodium cells, we are still not finished with insurance. I should point out that this was a valuable collection of mutant cell

Happy to share our last protocol for efficient gene tagging in Medaka. We hope this will encourage genetic and imaging approaches in other non-conventional fish models. A big thank you to all co-authors, and congrats to the first author Simon Knoblich bio-protocol.org/en/bpdetail?id…

Great collaboration with Jordi van Gestel group and EMBL colleagues, or how nice work is done when the right persons meet . Congrats to the first author Mireia Garriga-Canut. Straightforward gene editing in Dictyostelids, and Cas9 RNP optimization link.springer.com/article/10.103…
