So I have finally arrived in Madagascar for fieldwork on the ploughshare tortoises! So far Antananarivo reminds me a little of Jamaica from my marine biology fieldtrip but with a French twist! #Durrell #marineoutofwater #Madagascarfieldwork MRes Biosciences, Swansea University Swansea Marine Bio @swanscience

So today ends with simulating some "poaching" and finishing my second group of tortoises! It's now starting to become second nature somewhat! Although, I'm sure wild releases of tortoises next week will shake things up! SLAM @swanscience MRes Biosciences, Swansea University #marineoutofwater

It's surprising how people are going back to their creative roots during the lockdown. So I thought if I can't be with the fish I might as well try and paint them! 🦈 #marineoutofwater #blueshark #lockdowncreativity #IfICantScuba How am I doing Dr Elizabeth Mills ?

After doing a lit. review at postgrad on basking shark movements the growing research provides amazing evidence of a species who can travel vast distances. No wonder I would to love to one day research and tag these beauties! #marineoutofwater #baskingshark #ificantscuba

Prof. Webber's re-greening talk on Jamaica - Some amazing points on mangrove carbon sinking, seagrass re-planting methods and coral rehabilitation. It is so encouraging to hear that since doing surveys at DBML in 2018 there has been progress! youtu.be/ymusmAKt55M

I first became interested in anthropogenic noise pollution in our oceans during my undergrad thesis on Grey seals & multibeam echosounders Swansea Marine Biology. Here's a nice piece on the adverse impacts it has on fish and therefore, sharks. By Clemency White 🦈 saveourseas.com/update/the-noi…

Better late than never, currently interning at BBFS and I can safely say a month on that it is an amazing internship. Learning techniques and research on the shark populations here and elsewhere whilst getting close to the local wildlife including the Atlantic spotted dolphins!

Just heard from @BiminiSharkLab that A4D11 that we acoustically tagged in 2013, originally caught and tagged in 1997, was pinging in Bimini spring 2020, making her at least 37 years old. Here’s hoping she showed up again this April to drop some more pups!
