Few more bits on this: affected fleet is all 737 MAXs built before mid 2022, ~860 a/c, per service bulletin. FAA draft rule based on 2023 bulletin; Boeing first alerted operators in May ‘22 & production line fix soon after. Proposed compliance time is 36 mos post final rule.

A July 20 737-8 delivery to Xiamen Airlines means 737 MAX hand-overs to Chinese operators have resumed following what the CAAC said was a CVR battery re-validation. Hat tip to AAP/AIR for the details, which we will have in a pending story.
