Not to 'eclipse' what's happening today but - how did the art of eclipse photography begin? đ
That question is answered by AFLCMC's own chief historian Kevin Rusnak: bit.ly/4ansJa6

Happy Publication Day to Brian Laslie and his latest book 'Fighting from Above: A Combat History of the US Air Force'! oupress.com/9780806193670/âŠ
The story of the United States Air Force (USAF) stretches back to aerial operations prior to the First World Warâwell before the USAFâŠ
Cringe moment: I was giving a tour of National Museum USAF for âemerging leadersâ from Wright State University (Dayton, OH) & some faculty. I was talking about the Cold War & asked how many remembered it.
No one.
Then I asked who was alive during the Cold War.
No one. đŁ
If youâve followed me for a while, you know Iâve put a lot out there about US work on aircraft turbos Maj Lawrence W. McIntosh (now Air Force Research Lab - AFRL ). Itâs a great case of: does technology enable doctrine or doctrine drive technology? Arguably turbos enabled American strategic bombing in WWII
To connect #MastersOfTheAir & the âreoptimizationâ announcement from U.S. Air Force leadership this week:
-During just 6 days of âBlack Weekâ in #WWII , (6-14 Oct 1943), the US 8th Air Force alone lost 148 bombers.
-the current USAF has 123 bombers in its entire inventory.
The subject of this article is Hans von Ohain. Sound familiar? Heâs the grandson of the more famous Hans, German inventor of the 1st jet engine to fly (1939), came to the US after WWII in Operation Paperclip, & retired from Air Force Research Lab - AFRL
