Our survey results may be new to some, but those of us who have experienced a TBI due to a vehicle collision know all too well that, often, getting the help you need for recovery doesn't happen without a fight! ABISS wants to see that CHANGE. Here are our recommendations:

New Recovery Benefits will provide $500/wk for 26 weeks to those who aren't eligible for EI, are isolating due to COVID, or are stuck at home caring for a child/family member.

Employment can be upended in so many ways, Covid-19 has been a massive disruptor. Happy to see that the Canadian gov't is stepping up. Another long-term disruptor is a traumatic brain injury caused by a motor vehicle collision. Will the Ont gov't step up too?

Every 3 min in Canada, someone will sustain an Acquired Brain Injury. If a collision caused that injury, will your auto insurer be there to support you? "All I wanted was to get the help I needed..." said one of our survey respondents.

ABISS Rather than "support you"; your ON auto insurer will likely send you to one of their "preferred vendors" of medico-legal second opinions. Though your treating physicians will have diagnosed an ABI - the insurer doctors - more often than not - will call you a symptom-exaggerator.
