I'm heading to Korea for a week. Amidst my preaching/teaching commitments, I'll have some time to explore Seoul. What are "must sees" in Seoul? What are "must eats" while in Korea?

Conversation with a PhD student in the UK that I met at Tyndale House in Cambridge just before COVID hit. Good to reconnect with him.

Never have I had so many moments grading papers thinking: "They must have had great training before they got to me. No way did my class give them all they need to write such incredible papers." Our MA in Biblical Exegesis students Wheaton College are awesome!

Getting geared up to film an 8 video session course on Savoring Scripture for Seminary Now ! I'll be in the studio with them next week. This is my first course with them, and I've been super impressed with their work on courses taught by many of my friends.

Christians in every era must reckon with this—a sign of a healthy church or Christian institution is that its people never feel fully at home in any political system, left or right. While pursuing the ethics of Messiah Jesus on earth, we longingly pray: “your kingdom come.”

Today, after 4 years of toil, joy, fear, and trust, I submitted my draft of New Handbook on the Prophets (title TBD) for Baker Academic . It came in at 233k words, 457 pages single-spaced. Will be a year until it's out, but I'm grateful to God for carrying me to this milestone.

Word of advice for folks who think they may want to do a PhD someday: make sure the master’s program you choose will prepare you for the PhD program you are hoping to enter. More than half of the students I talk to about a PhD at Wheaton won’t have had enough Hebrew.
