Today, the House Judiciary Committee is marking up the Border Security and Enforcement Act of 2023. This bill would unequivocally harm children. Read more from First Focus Campaign for Children: campaignforchildren.org/resources/bill…

2. Extreme vetting of their parents and family members won't solve this problem. Neither will prolonged detention where children are separated from their family and community.

As the right to asylum erodes around the world, Assoc. Dean Jaya Ramji-Nogales describes it as "our moral obligation to other humans who are in need of protection because they are facing harm." bit.ly/43OzWgg

Children of immigrants experience poverty rates more than 2X those of other kids, largely because of barriers that exclude their families from accessing aid. We should reduce child poverty for ALL kids - regardless of their parents' immigration status. nyti.ms/43eAPib

All children — including children seeking safety — deserve protections that promote their health and well-being. We condemn new legislation, S. 1473 authored by Sinema and Tillis, that would actively harm tens of thousands of children. youthlaw.org/news/denouncin…

With the lifting of U.S. Title 42 restrictions, UNHCR and @UNMigration call for a collaborative response to refugees and migrants in the Americas. We welcome expanding resettlement & pathways but are seriously concerned about new barriers to asylum. (1/3) unhcr.org/news/press-rel…

Thinking of all the kids, families, & individuals who make the brave choice to flee the only homes they've known to be safe. Thinking of communities eager and willing to welcome them and help them build new lives. Mourning that our policymakers ignore these true heroes.

One thing that we’ve heard so much this trip from the groups doing incredible life saving support is how volunteers, resources, and attention have dried up since we’re no longer talking about Trump’s cruelty at the border, now it’s Biden’s. We were told, “lip service is deadly”

Imm reporters: Reminder - federal law (post-T.42) requires CBP to process people in to request asylum if they express a fear *even w/out a CBP One appointment.* They may only be eligible for lesser protection because of the asylum ban, but CBP cannot legally block their entry. 1/

This child is an unaccompanied child who is supposed to be exempt from new asylum restrictions put in place by the Biden Admin. But what this story makes clear is that policies focused on deterrence are harmful to EVERYONE. #RestoreAsylum

What he is making clear is that he will ignore the clear meaning and intent of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution. What he is also making clear is that he would harm children. In fact, the one group that he is targeting with this unconstitutional proposal: BABIES. (1)

Today, Judge Hanen will hear oral arguments on the legality of DACA. As of now, nothing has changed with DACA. DHS will continue to process renewals and Advance Parole applications - until the Fifth Circuit Court makes a new decision.
