.@CharlesKod and Ann Bamford spoke with Juliet Bouverie OBE about community and patient involvement in stroke management and research. Both agreed “People are underserved, NOT hard to reach.” Every stroke survivor is an expert in their own right and inclusion is essential. #UKSF23

Powerful words from stroke survivor Paula Leask, “Everyday I asked my doctors if I would walk again.” Her recovery was slow and she was told “you only get back what comes in the first 6 months.” “If I had believed that, I never would’ve made the recovery I have.” #UKSF23

Stroke survivors are at high risk of treatment burden. In our Primary Care Workshop, katie gallacher spoke about “minimally disruptive medicine”. Care needs to be person-centred so we can lessen the burden of treatment, keep people engaged, and produce better outcomes. #UKSF23

In our session about putting people at the centre of stroke measurement, Claire Mitchell spoke of 4 measures: Intelligibility Conversation Living well with dysarthria Communication partner We also heard from people living with dysarthria and what they want to see change. #UKSF23
