UMass hockey will head to The Middle of the country for two against Omaha. The Minutemen will surely encounter Something Loud while playing at the Mavericks’ Baxter Arena, but will look to experience the Sweetness of a series sweep once again: gazettenet.com/2025/10/23/uma…

Don’t expect UMass hockey to Mess Around when Cornell comes to town this weekend. The Big Red have given the Minutemen some Trouble the last two years & this series kicks off a grueling upcoming schedule for UMass… there Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked: gazettenet.com/2025/10/31/uma…

UMass lineup vs Cornell (10/31): Musa-DeAngelo-VanTassell Jencko-Galanek-Nestrasil Zimmerman-Kerr-Klecka Mehlenbacher-Duerr-O'Neill Olvestad-Murray Dell'Elce-Kennan Nycz-Lieberman Hrabal

Klecka backhands in the first goal of the game on a Minutemen power play. 1-0 UMass less than three minutes into the game. Fourth goal for the Slovakian freshman.

Cornell's Gio DiGiulian evens the score 1-1 at 13:40 here in the first. Puck was loose at the back post and DiGiulian won the battle for it and slid it past Hrabal.

End P1: UMass 1, Cornell 1. Kind of a sleepy first period here on Halloween night. Klecka, DiGiulian the goalscorers. The Big Red challenged for another goal right before the end of the 1st, after Nycz was stripped of the puck in the D-zone, setting up a great bid, but no goal.

Going back to Cornell's goal, I believe that was during Hanrahan's first shift of the season. He's No. 2 in the corner. Tough luck for the Longmeadow native. x.com/i/status/19844…

End P2: UMass 1, Cornell 1. Minutemen killed off an Olvestad boarding penalty midway through the frame and appeared to get a jolt, in an otherwise uneventful game. Feels like a greasy goal is going to decide this one.

About five minutes into the third and Cornell has had multiple scoring chances on odd-man rushes this period. Minutemen continue to struggle in the transition game.

Nestrasil redirects a Jencko shot from the right faceoff circle to give UMass a 2-1 lead. The Blackhawks draft pick stays hot with his seventh goal of the season.

Final: UMass 2, Cornell 1. Power play comes up big for Minutemen in the series opener as they scored both goals on the man-advantage. Klecka, Nestrasil score as their stock continues to rise through this first month of the season.

UMass hockey splits for the third weekend in a row after 3-1 loss to Cornell tonight. Minutemen (6-3-0) lost the special-teams battle in this one after coming out on top on Friday. Huge series vs Maine (5-2-1) coming up this week, which just swept BU. Black Bears are no joke.
