In honor of Election Day, we read “Vote for Our Future” and the kiddos created their own ballots with things they would want to vote for. Then they explained which one would be their top choice if they had to pick just one!

As we get started drafting realistic fiction pieces, students explained why these key elements serve a purpose in this genre. Their ideas were powerful and genuine 💫

EE “buzz” was a hit this morning. Kiddos practiced reading EE words and eventually had to define them in order to keep their cards. “Buzz” cards meant all the cards they collected went back in the bucket—it was anyone’s game! 🐝

2nd grade created gratitude paper bag books and considered different things they’re thankful for across multiple categories. Their focus was explaining why they’re thankful for each thing in complete sentences 🦃 #gratitude

It’s so fun when we get to use kid’s names to follow a phonics rule 💫 Sl-OA-ne did a great job reasoning why her name was spelled with oa instead of ow during our phonemic awareness activity today!

One of my favorite holiday traditions 🎁 Compliment Present Trees🎁 Students write a compliment to each other on a personally designed paper “gifts” and add it to each other’s trees. The final product brings joy & fills each kid up with a reminder of what makes them special 💫

Just because we’re not sharing materials doesn’t mean we’re not playing word games together ♟ …kiddos filled out their words AND their partner’s words on their own mats, which was actually a great form of accountability and engagement 🤓
