9 months ago, Katy Yaroslavsky voted to exclude single-family homes in transit areas from being in "CHIP" (LA's plan to fix the housing crisis). Due to that, CHIP can't hit #'s we need. Now, she just voted to oppose CA upzoning these areas cus "we did the work with CHIP already"

In other words: While we need more housing, I’m worried this bill will add housing *here*, so I won’t support it. Disgrace. She thinks this will boost what little support/funding she has left from wealthier homeowner types, but is alienating a much larger segment of population.

"pilot testing" whether concrete barriers work... classic LA. Of course they work, now go and install miles of them as we legally mandated in HLA!

ICE detain yet another U.S. citizen—for driving to work while "looking" Mexican. Agents pulled him from car & handcuffed him in seconds—not even asking for his ID. "They profiled me, just grabbed me like I was a criminal," he said. "I'm American. My background is Mexican, but

New Bundy/Expo build finally getting (partially) unwrapped. It broke ground ~2 years ago, but it's still a ways from opening. Was submitted as a "duplex" but has multiple rec rooms which will become units + ground floor retail. Also: it had to pay 200k in linkage fees!

Great video, so happy to see this - even calls out the homeowner origins of Prop U, how not allowing infill causes *more* car traffic/pollution (due to super commuting) and the true fact that *not allowing* new housing/zones for it is a cause of gentrification.

Joe Cohen The city needs to do a better job of tracking req’d AH units, who gets them, and making their availability more widely publicized and registered. This complaint abounds in lower income neighborhoods.

Padilla talking against developers who build "big ugly boxes" and bragging about halving heights- sorry, but our housing crisis doesn't have time to wait for your less financeable ideal of only boutique 3-story architectural LEED platinum housing designed around neighbors' whims.

An LA council member pressured devs to halve an apt’s height here. The location is on a major road, next to major bus rapid transit, a school, and our biggest recreation area: If we demand “compromise” even in locations like this, we’re not getting anywhere.

Updated Expo/Bundy infill🏘️ tracker, another 86 unit 100% affordable apt just submitted! (Replacing 2 SFHs) SB 79 will replicate this rare upzoning success across LA's rail lines. It’s been blunted by macroeconomics, ULA, linkage fees, dept slowdowns, fees, etc - but happening.
