A spring-prescribed burn on Henslow's Trail has yielded impressive growth amidst the ashes! The prairie's perennial plants regrow from their roots annually, benefiting from the fire's ability to enrich the soil and eliminate invasive woody species. 🌻

Obedient plant is blooming at Midewin and the Prairie Dawgs have been enjoying the flowers! They are "obedient" in the sense that the individual flower heads can be moved and will stay wherever they are moved. They also produce a lot of nectar and are a favorite of pollinators.🐝
